ADHD Parenting Tip - Some People Will Just Never Be Supportive of You Or Your Child With ADHD

When I started working exclusively with children and families affected by ADHD, I did it because I wanted to personally make sure the right information was getting into the right hands. I was seriously amazed at how little information people seemed to know about ADHD. And I'm not just talking about the patients either. A lot of professionals just don't understand ADHD beyond the basics.

But that's another story entirely. What really concerns me today are the people who not only don't understand ADHD, but don't care to or even attempt to. You likely know who I'm talking about. These are the people who want to blame you. They think ADHD is just an excuse, and have no problem telling you.

Maybe you've heard some of these before:

ADHD is just an excuse for bad parenting
ADHD is for people who don't want to discipline their children
ADHD is an excuse to drug kids
And on and on the list goes...

None of them are true, but some people just won't listen. Some people won't support you, and they won't offer any bit of care, concern, or compassion for your situation.

The Basics:

I'm a man who believes in the basics. When it comes to parenting children with ADHD, before I teach strategies, I rely on the basics of parenting to establish a very strong foundation.

I also believe in the "golden rule" of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!"

When someone blames you, or gives you the exact opposite of anything supportive, it makes me wonder two things:

What purpose does that negativity serve?
What benefit do they gain from insulting you?

I'm not trying to be naive here. Rather, I want to take the opportunity to let you know that you don't have to stand for this type of attitude or response. You need, and deserve, support from people who accept what you are dealing with.

Bottom Line? A child with ADHD needs the tools, resources, supports, and understanding to be successful in school and in life. I'd like to help with that! Download your free ADHD Essentials Audio Kit today, and you'll get immediate access to information and strategies that will make a difference.
